  • 2 cups of water

  • 1 handful of raisins

  • 1 handful of walnuts

  • 2 dried figs

  4. While the oats are cooking, cut up the apple.

  5. Cut up the figs.

  6. Mix the apple and fig chunks with your spices.

  7. The oats should be ready now, so add them to a bowl.

  8. Add the apple, figs and spices.

  9. Add the flaxseed meal for extra flavor and Omega-3's.

  10. Enjoy your warming and nourishing oats!

*= Some rolled oats require a bit longer of a boil, so pay attention to the information on the package.

Instant oats don't even require a boil, but we want warm oatmeal here with raisins that soften up during cooking and add sweetness to the dish

**= Flax seeds are an amazing addition to dishes like these. They add valuable nutrition in the form of Omega-3's and lignans among others. (Lignans in) flax seeds have shown to have a strong protective effect against certain gender specific cancers like breast cancer.

It has shown to break down cancer cells, to which scientists concluded "Dietary flaxseed has the potential to reduce tumor growth in patients with breast cancer."(1)

Among men, the effect flaxseeds have on prostate cancer look very promising as well, as they have shown to improve the condition of prostate cancer patients significantly. (2), (3)
