Are you a chocolate addict?

Do you feel miserable if you go without chocolate longer than a few days?

You realize how hopeless you are, yet pretend like everything is "okay"?

Then you're in luck.

This recipe is the ultimate healthy excuse to satisfy your chocolate cravings right at the start of the day...

As long as you realize it's not a chocolate bar.


  • 200 ml Soy/Almond/Cow’s milk/etc.
    (soy or animal-based milks preferably organic)

  • 1 Pear

  • 50 g Oatmeal

  • 15 g Chia seeds

  • 15 g Cacao powder or nibs

  • 10 g flax seeds

  • 3 to 4 average sized dates

  • Optional: cacao nibs for topping


 INSTRUCTIONS for 2 Layers:

  1. Set aside 1 bowl and 1 glass (jar)

  2. Add 40 g of the oatmeal to bowl

  3. Cut up pear and blend with chia seeds and 50% of the liquid.

  4. Add to bowl and mix

5. Put in the freezer for about 15 minutes

6. Blend flaxseeds, 50% of the liquid and cacao nibs together.

7. Put mixture in a glass (jar) and leave it in the freezer for about 15 minutes.

8. Add the content of bowl to the glass.

9. Top it off with extra cacao nibs

10. Put it in the fridge overnight.

11. Take it out in the morning and enjoy your breakfast



  1. Make this recipe in the evening and store it overnight.

  2. Set aside 40 g of the oatmeal. 

  3. Blend the rest of the ingredients before adding to the oatmeal.

  4. Take it out in the morning and enjoy your breakfast.



  • If you have time you could boil the cut-up fruit for a minute or so to deactivate the enzymes responsible for ripening. The fruit will oxidize less.

  • If you’re having several servings of dairy daily, of which no fermented servings, consider using an alternative drink based on nuts or soy (unsweetened).

  • Use cacao nibs instead of cacao powder due to contamination issues.

  • Chia seeds in this recipe don't have to be blended, but it is preferable.
